Sofia from 1993 in the fabulous film by French visual artist Lionel Kopp "Murder Bureau", with Ornella Muti
special event screening with guest Lionel Kopp and Alice Larry

What does it take to create a cult film? A little magic, the right city, and someone to see it through the eyes of an artist. In the 1990s, French visual artist and director Lionel Kopp arrives in Eastern Europe, looking for a location for his neo-noir thriller. MORDBÜRO ("Murder Bureau") is the first film to use Digital Technicolor technology, starring a galaxy of beloved Bulgarian artists and star Ornella Muti, shot entirely in Sofia and Plovdiv.

With a special screening with free admission at the Cabana Cinema outdoors, on September 20, 2025 at 8:00 p.m., on the occasion of Sofia's holidays, the film returns to where it all began. The event is supported by the Sofia Municipality "Summer Program". Special guests for the screenings are director Lionel Kopp and Alice Larry - the film's editor.

Kopp is a legend in French cinema, having worked with cult directors such as David Lynch and Lars von Trier, colorist of the magical "Amélie Poulain" and "Fall" by Tarsem Singh.

Thirty years later, the screening of MORDBÜRO is not just a return to a work, but also to Sofia itself, which Kopp sees not just as a background, but as a complete hero, a living organism and for us it is an exciting meeting with the audience and the youngest who have not seen our city in this exciting light.

Synopsis:
When injustice prevails, a secret organization - MORDBÜRO "Murder Bureau" - sets out to "cleanse" society of evil. But what happens when the organization itself is infected? Detective Raul, captivated by a beautiful widow, stops his investigation and falls into a web of intrigue.
